What is JBA?
About JBA
The Japan Commercial Broadcasters Association (JBA) is a general incorporated association, whose membership consists of 207 commercial broadcasters, including 204 full members and three associate members as of January 2025.
The objectives of the JBA include “enhancing broadcasting ethics and promoting, advancing, and developing public welfare through broadcasting, as well as handling issues common to members while promoting mutual friendship and cooperation among the members.”
To achieve these goals, we are implementing the following projects.
(1) Establishing and promoting broadcasting ethics
(2) Communication between members, and handling of common issues
(3) Research and study of broadcasting programs, technology, management, etc.
(4) Communicating with the national parliament, relevant government agencies, etc. on various issues related to the broadcasting business
(5) Works related to the operation of television relay lines
(6) Operation of “archives” under Article 3 of the Copyright Law Enforcement Order
(7) Education and advertising related to broadcasting business
(8) Publication of newsletters and materials
(9) Projects necessary for the welfare, friendship, and harmony of JBA members and their related parties
(10) Other projects deemed necessary to achieve our goals
